Ten ways to train.

Most people start with reformer and add from there. If you don't know which to book, we'll choose with you.

Reformer Pilates at Life Pilates
01

Reformer Pilates

Spring resistance, on a moving carriage.

The signature Life Pilates class. The reformer's springs give your body something to push against and something to control on the way back, so every repetition asks for attention. Small classes, always coached.

Who it suits — Everyone, from a first class to a tenth year.

  • Whole-body strength without heavy load
  • Better control through the hips and spine
  • Range of motion you can actually use

Mat Pilates at Life Pilates
02

Mat Pilates

Your own bodyweight, and not much else.

The original method, on the floor. A ring, a small ball, light weights. Slower to look at and harder than it looks — mat work is where breath and sequencing get built.

Who it suits — Anyone who wants a strong foundation, or a class they can repeat at home.

  • Deep core and postural strength
  • Breath and movement working together
  • Nothing required but a mat

Clinical Pilates at Life Pilates
03

Clinical Pilates

Movement, adapted to what your body is dealing with.

One-to-one sessions built around a specific limitation — a stiff back, a shoulder that has been guarding, a return to activity after a break. We work within what your doctor or physiotherapist has advised.

Who it suits — Members working around pain, stiffness or a period away from training.

  • Programming written for one body
  • Progress reviewed session to session
  • Coordinated with your own clinician

Clinical Pilates supports care that your doctor or physiotherapist is already providing. It is not a substitute for medical treatment or diagnosis.

Athletic Pilates at Life Pilates
04

Athletic Pilates

Faster tempo. Heavier springs.

Reformer work built for people who already train — runners, lifters, players. Power, single-leg control and the unglamorous stabilising work that keeps a season going.

Who it suits — Regular trainers and sportspeople looking for a second gear.

  • Power and rotational control
  • Single-side strength balance
  • Cross-training that complements your sport

Prenatal & Postnatal at Life Pilates
05

Prenatal & Postnatal

Through pregnancy, and afterwards.

Small-group and private sessions across all three trimesters, and a graded return once you are cleared to move again. Positions, springs and pace are adjusted week by week.

Who it suits — Expecting and new mothers with clearance from their doctor.

  • Comfortable, supported positioning
  • Strength for carrying and feeding
  • A patient, staged return after birth

Please bring your doctor's clearance to your first session. We will plan around their advice.

Stretch & Release at Life Pilates
06

Stretch & Release

The session you book on a heavy week.

Assisted stretching, breath work and soft-tissue release on the reformer and mat. Low effort, long holds, quiet room.

Who it suits — Desk-bound weeks, travel weeks, the day after a hard class.

  • Eases tension through hips, back and shoulders
  • Slows the nervous system down
  • Pairs well with a heavier training week

Lagree at Life Pilates
07

Lagree

Slow reps on the megaformer. Nowhere to hide.

Time under tension, taken to its limit. Every movement is performed slowly against constant resistance, with no rest between exercises. Available at both studios.

Who it suits — People who want the hardest thing on the timetable.

  • Sustained muscular endurance
  • High intensity, low impact on joints
  • Fast, focused 45 minutes

Animal Flow

Ground-based movement, linked into flow.

Crawling, transitioning, reaching — a floor practice that trains coordination and shoulder and hip mobility in patterns your usual training never asks for. Available at Chattarpur only.

Who it suits — Anyone who wants to move in more directions than a machine allows.

  • Shoulder and hip mobility under load
  • Coordination and body awareness
  • A genuinely different stimulus

A member suspended in the Cadillac frame at Life Pilates
09

Cadillac

A frame above you, springs in every direction.

Also known as the trapeze table. Bars and springs attach overhead and at either end, so a movement can be supported, assisted or loaded from angles the reformer can't reach. A precise place to learn how a movement should feel before you add load. Available at both studios.

Who it suits — Anyone who wants assisted, precise work — from first sessions to an established practice.

  • Support and resistance from above as well as below
  • Assisted versions of movements that are hard on the mat
  • Room for careful, individual adjustment

Physiotherapy

Hands-on care, alongside your training.

One-to-one physiotherapy sessions, planned around what your body needs on the day. Depending on your needs, a session can include:

  • MFR (myofascial release)
  • Ultrasonic
  • Dry needling
  • Chiropractic
  • Sports taping
  • Rehabilitation
  • TENS

Your physiotherapist decides which techniques are appropriate for you. Physiotherapy here works alongside, not instead of, advice from your own doctor.
