What to expect from your first class
Arrive fifteen minutes early. Here is everything else.
Arrive fifteen minutes early. That's the single most useful thing to know. Here's everything else.
Before you arrive
Book your session and tell us it's your first class — we'll place you in a slot that's paced for it. Wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing that allows you to move freely. Bring grip socks if you have them; if not, we keep them at reception. Mats and all the small equipment are provided. Bring water.
If you're pregnant, recovering from an injury, or managing a medical condition, let us know when you book. For pregnancy we ask for written clearance from your doctor.
When you arrive
Someone will show you around and take you to your reformer. The instructor will set the footbar height and springs with you, show you where the straps sit, and explain what to do if anything feels wrong.
The class itself
Every session is fifty-five minutes. A reformer class usually begins with breath and gentle spinal work, lying on your back. Then footwork — pushing the carriage away with your feet on the bar — which is where most people first feel the springs working.
From there the class moves through arm and leg work using the straps, then abdominal work, sometimes kneeling or standing work, and finishes with stretching.
Nothing is rushed. The instructor will adjust your springs and your position as you go.
Afterwards
You'll probably feel muscles you didn't expect to. That's normal. Stay for a coffee or a matcha in the lounge if you have time — plenty of people do.
If you need to cancel
A minimum three to four hour cancellation notice is required before your class. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged in full, so let us know as early as you can.
Coming back
Your second and third classes are where things start to make sense. Try to book the next one before you leave.
